Taittinger
At The Torridon, we are one of only a handful of remaining family owned, independent Five Star hotels in Scotland, likewise, Taittinger remains one of the few Champagne Houses to be owned and actively managed by the family named on the label. Like at The Torridon, generations have worked to craft a product that is driven by passion for quality and a commitment to improving the environment in which our businesses operate.
Vitalie Taittinger, President, Champagne Taittinger says “Having our family name on every bottle is our signature, it is a big responsibility. We have a duty to respect the history, knowledge and passion from the past whilst looking to the future. Each signature is a commitment to quality”
Taittinger is based in Reims, but vineyards extend throughout the Champagne region. The House is fortunate to own 288ha of vineyards, supplying around 40% of what is needed. The balance of fruit comes from long-term contract growers, many of which go back generations. A high degree of control is maintained over the fruit, ensuring a consistently high level of quality.
Our commitment to sustainability at The Torridon is matched by Taittinger In 2017 they received two environmental accreditations: the ‘Viticulture Durable en Champagne’ (Sustainable vine-growing in Champagne) and the Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value). This approach includes the responsible management of water, use of fertilisers and controlling of waste to preserve the biodiversity of the fauna and flora across the terroir and in the vineyards.
The hallmark of the Taittinger Champagnes is the high percentage of Chardonnay used in their cuvées, from 40% in the Brut Réserve to 100% in the prestigious Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs. This Chardonnay dominance provides for a style of elegance, delicacy and finesse which is recognised and enjoyed worldwide.
Through our partnership with Taittinger we aim not only to provide an exceptional house champagne, but to weave touches of Taittinger throughout the Torridon experience, from 1887 dishes to celebrating life’s special occasions in style we’re excited to develop this partnership of independents.
