Tullich Highland Rare Breed Pigs
An ethos of “Conservation – Education – Inspiration” lies at the heart of the croft, making for a perfect partnership with the values of The Torridon.
Bob Pratley raises the pigs at Tullich Muir, near Invergordon, around 60 miles from the resort. Bob’s focus is on preserving the future of rare breed pigs but he’s also passionate about sustainability, recently winning Sustainable Small Farm of The Year from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Amongst other things, Bob has been championing the use of rare-breed pigs to clear challenging terrain, inaccessible by machine, in a low-impact, sustainable manner.
Bob said “Working with the Torridon was a natural fit for Tullich Highland Rare Beed Pigs. We share so many of the same values from a desire to do things to the highest possible quality, a field-to-fork ethos, as well as a commitment to delivering our businesses in a way that safeguards the future prosperity of the unique and beautiful areas in which we live and work”.
“It’s been great to visit the Torridon and see that the pigs have settled well into their new home, as well as having the chance to see the Hotel and Kitchen Gardens and see for ourselves the work that is being done to provide even more of the resort’s produce on site.”
If you would like to visit Bob, you’re in luck, there’s a small shop on the croft in Invergordon sells their own products, produced for them by local butchers – or you can find out more about them here – Tullich Highland – Rare Breed Pigs.
