Moët & Chandon

The house of Moët & Chandon itself today is still based in Épernay, in the heart of the Champagne region of France, the same place that it was founded in 1743 by the ambitious and well-connected wine merchant Claude Moët. Despite being based farther afield than some of the hotel’s other partner suppliers, Moët & Chandon’s guiding principles nevertheless echo with many of The Torridon’s own core values.

Moët & Chandon’s Account Manager for the West of Scotland, Richie Laing says of The Torridon, “what always strikes me about the resort when I visit is the hotel’s uncompromising commitment to quality and the team’s drive to be the absolute best at what they do. Consistently high quality and brilliant service is always at the heart of the experience.” Similarly, at Moët & Chandon, the winemaking team is always striving to maintain high levels of consistency and quality across the range, to keep the house at the vanguard of Champagne. At the heart of this range is the house’s flagship Moët & Chandon Impérial, which is the pouring champagne throughout the resort at The Torridon. Embodying the style of the house with its bright fruitiness, a beautifully balanced palate, and an elegant maturity, Moët & Chandon Impérial in its style also perfectly reflects the welcoming, inclusive elegance of The Torridon.

The Torridon’s commitment to environmental sustainability is also shared by Moët & Chandon. Since its inception in 1743, the house’s vision has always been far-reaching and long-term. Nature is the very source of their champagne’s quality and uniqueness. Therefore, preserving resources, enriching the land and the balance of nature is a duty to both current and future generations. As leaders, Moët & Chandon recognise that they must set an example. Their commitment to sustainable development is demonstrated through the high environmental quality certification for both their production site in Mont-Aigu and their vineyards, which are also certified for sustainable viticulture. The house also uses electric tractors and cars across their vineyard and production sites.

As the champagne of reference when it comes to celebration, Moët & Chandon will often be at the heart of guests most memorable moments while staying at The Torridon. Richie works closely with the team at The Torridon to help craft experiences that will make guests feel special. This ranges from the front of house team in The 1887 restaurant knowing how to serve their champagne perfectly, to the creation of bespoke luxury champagne hampers to be enjoyed in the grounds of The Torridon on sunny days, to hosting regular staff champagne training sessions to educate and inspire the team.
